Are there regulations as to what footwear you have to wear on a supermarket deli?

I work at a tesco deli, are there health and safety regulations that say I have to wear proper shoes, I am wearing boots at the minute and trainers.

Counters staff should be wearing safety shoes, go to your wages office and order some!
Reply:UK health and safety, closed toe, non slip BUT if Tesco do not supply your footwear you can wear what you want, they cannot dictate what you wear
Reply:I think you have to wear shoes with steel toe caps, in case you drop a knife! Health and safety etc.
Reply:Slip-proof/Non-skid shoes at all times.
Reply:Slip proof - they sell them at WalMart
Reply:Plain, black boots are usually the norm.

  1. Check out www.safetytoes.com - they are an alternative to expensive safety shoes for toe protection.
